Packages
Well after shouting out the window at the man from the German parcel service I received my first package of Christmas soup bowls. An hour later I heard honking in front of the house and saw that the next parcel company was waiting out front. After more shouting out the window I received my second package of carseats for my nieces. And yet another hour later the post lady delivered my printer toner! I haven´t seen DHL today, so I suppose there is a small chance the teapot could come. If not, tomorrow is another day and that will be fine, too. It´s the little things in life.
German Parcel Service
I saw the German Parcel Service driving away yesterday. They had been to our house to deliver a package but didn´t bother to knock at the door. So instead I found a note saying they would deliver tomorrow (today) because I wasn´t at home....funny thing, but all the lights were on and I saw them...I´m wondering how it will work today. They said they would come between 9-12 today, but does that mean I need to wait in the front yard to catch them since they don´t actually know how to get out of the car and walk around the side to knock on our door? I´m expecting 4 things, but which of the four things is actually going to be delivered today, I do not know. It could be the toner for my printer, the soup plates I ordered, or the teapot, or the carseats. So many choices. I vote for the soup plates and the carseats.

When life gives you lemmons
you´re supposed to make lemonaide. It´s hard to do, but I´ve decided to focus on the positive aspects in my life. I´m incredibly thankful that DH and I have a roof over our heads, and a very nice one at that. It´s warm and cozy inside, the fridge is full of yummy things to eat including merry cherry fudge and lots of cookies, and we have indoor plumbing. I can´t really imagine not having indoor plumbing, but thousands of people don´t have this luxury. I have jobs that pay, money in the bank and a little to spare. Really, life is quite peachy when you don´t focus on what you don´t have. There are things that I would like to have, or wish were different, but I´m not going to focus on those today. Tomorrow is another day.... What are you thankful for in your life?

Waiting
As a child I hated waiting. I thought waiting for Christmas or my birthday was extremely difficult. The time seemed to stand still, and looking at the clock or calendar or asking mommy "How much longer" "when is it going to be Christmas again?" "When is my birthday?" were favorite questions. Now I´m an adult and don´t have to ask mommy anymore, but I´m not sure I like waiting anymore now than I did back then. The more important it is to me, the harder it is to wait. I can wait patiently in the check-out line or for the mail to come, but waiting to ovulate, waiting to test, waiting for the doctor´s appointment and waiting for a second appointment is hard. I know it´s completetly out of my control and all that´s left for me to do is wait, but it´s the waiting and not knowing that makes it so hard. Will I be so lucky as to have a sticky baby, or will it be another disappointment? I´m trying to be optimistic, but as they say, a pessimist is an optimist with life experience, and my experiences have been less than desirable. I shall stop complaining and commence waiting again. I´ll try to do so patiently, but it´s hard, so if anyone has some extra patience or knows how to make time fly, I´d like some.

naps
It´s been a very hectic past two weeks here. It seems like the phone rang about every 5 min. asking me if I could teach another lesson or do another translation, or proof read something, or translate for a telephone conference...I´m pooped. I have another translation which I need to turn in tomorrow, but I just don´t feel like working on it. I think I´d rather nap. Naps are like mental health breaks, and I probably should get one in before I hit the text again. The question is whether or not I should set the alarm, or just sleep till my heart´s content. I´ve no idea and am rather on the fence on this one. I´m also suddenly feeling like the 1/2 duck I had for lunch was too much and has gotten stuck right about my breast bone. Yes, I had 1/2 duck for lunch...don´t quite know how that happened, but I fixed the whole package and then decided I wanted some more and kept going...either I really needed that protein or I´ve turned into a pig. I´ll let you decide.

Deck the halls
A wreath I saw in Family Circle a few years ago and decided to make.
A shot of our stairs. Wish I knew how to turn the flash off...
It´s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at our house. Still no tree, but maybe next week we can go cut our own and start trimming it. I decided I should go all out for our first Christmas in our new house, and these are just a few pictures of some of the decorations. I still have a few boxes in the attic that I need to get down, but I´ve decided I´m not going to do any heavy lifting--that´s what men are for.

Tag
I've been tagged by Jessica. I'm new to this blogging business, but here goes nothing...
These are the rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you. (see above)2. Post the rules on your blog.3. Write six random, arbitrary things about yourself.4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.5. Let each person know they’ve been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.
6 Random Things:
1. I don´t like spooning.
2. I get migranes when I have to visit my inlaws or my SIL.
3. Food not only has to taste good, it must look pretty.
4. I have a steam oven, but I don´t really know how to use it other than to steam veggies.
5. I grind my teeth in my sleep.
6. I like sipping hotchocolate on a snowy day and reading decorating magazines curled up on the sofa.
I tag: Aisling, Melaina25, ukyankee, hmmm.
